Beautiful women, lingerie and good music. What else can you ask for?

There's something you have to ask yourself when going into watching an hour-long show like The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2006. Of course, some of our readers are female and can certainly ignore such a notion, but for the rest of you - can you sacrifice your self-respect by watching a lingerie fashion show in order to gaze upon some of the most beautiful women that walk this planet? For most of us, anyway, the answer is a resounding yes. To be certain, there will be an inherent appeal with the female population who want to gaze upon the newest fashion of lingerie guru Victoria's Secret, but let's simply cut to the chase - watching these beautiful women strut their stuff on the catwalk is worth the price of admission alone.

As the show begins, you get a behind the scenes glimpse of the fashion show itself. It's interesting to see the hustle-and-bustle of the behind the scenes atmosphere at such a major event. In fact, as the show goes on, you often see backstage, with the makeup artists, models, producers, designers and photographers running around in a sort of organized chaos. It's quite the feat to pull off such a major production, and the people that made it happen should be commended. Of course, it's often humorous to watch what goes on backstage (such as a model complaining because her shoe comes off, and the producer that is constantly yelling at the photographers), but in reality we're given some quality footage of a major industry event, and it's a nice way to break the monotony of a high-end fashion show for non-fashionistas in the television audience... which was likely a majority of those who tuned in.

Another way in which The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2006 was made more interesting (as opposed to just watching models walk a catwalk for an hour) are the regular features they have with various models, as well as the model interviews. Fans of specific models will get glimpses into the life of a model, from how it is to work as one, to how it is to love as one. After all, these beautiful women are also real people with real stories, and to get to hear some of their experiences and opinions is actually pretty interesting. For women that get paid to walk around nearly naked, some of them have interesting, insightful things to say. And then there's your quintessential airheaded model represented often in the group... but perhaps that's a little harsh. It's probably hard to hit the books when physical perfection is what you seek.

Many people tuned in to the show in order to see Justin Timberlake perform. Justin Timberlake is a likeable, talented singer and actor who performs two of his songs on the show (one song was sung in the introductory phase of the show concurrent to models strutting their stuff, the other midway through the show as a more focused musical performance). He adds some needed flair and variety to the event, and his music makes a nice backdrop to the show. Other great performers, such as The Killers, have their music featured on the show as well. Regrettably, however, only Justin Timberlake was able to perform his live.

Overall, The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2006 was a fun show to watch. It got a little boring and monotonous, but that's to be expected when you're not into fashion. However, when there's a seemingly-endless supply of beautiful women walking around in their underwear for an hour, you can't help but look away. This special hardly represents the upper echelon in television viewing, but for a once-a-year event, it's worth watching. A mixture of music, gorgeous women and interesting dynamics (such as the behind the scenes shots and interviews) make it an hour of television viewing spent in a worthwhile way. Of course, we wouldn't recommend you miss any of your regularly scheduled viewing for it, but perhaps it's worth catching it in lieu of something else you may otherwise have missed.
